The Vintage Operating Group is a group of like minded radio amateurs, keen to see vintage military radio continue to be used on air.

We have yet to create a full web site, but as a taster for things to come there are some pictures of the operating position for  M0VOG within the guns hall of the firepower museum at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, South East London. 

A map showing how to get there is also included – we are a genuine 5 minutes walk from the BR station known as Woolwich Arsenal, and even less from passing red buses – those things that used to be London Transport, but aren’t any more! There is also the Woolwich Free Ferry, 10 minutes walk along the River bank while there is plenty of on site FREE car and coach parking. BTW, North Woolwich station, shown on the map, has gone! There will be a  DLR station very soon.

If you are just coming to see and/or operate the radio then contact us before arrival to arrange free entry, but please don’t use this as a way of getting a free museum entry!

The station, is fully operational during school holidays and at weekends as advertised on the Firepower Web site (www.firepower.org.uk), using the  amateur radio call of GB2RA , between 11.00 and 16.30, daily.   Out of school holidays we operate at weekends, when we can.  Email us to check first!

There are occasional special radio events at Firepower and one such was the very special weekend 24/25 June 2006 when the families of real holders of the VC were "on Parade" with their medals and their experiences. 32 ACTUAL original VC's were presented in showcases, said to be the largest collection ever in one place. In 2008 there was a special day for TA100 on 25th October when a special Radio Station GB100TA operated and continued to do so until 2nd November..

Come and visit the museum and leave adequate time to have the “hands on” experience of operating amateur radio under the expert guidance of the operators on duty.
